We’ll start our day early with a hearty breakfast, gearing up for an exciting day filled with exploration and adventure!
Our journey begins with a scenic drive toward the vast Serengeti. Along the way, we’ll pass through the misty rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you might catch sight of Cape buffalo, baboons, elephants, or even elusive leopards hiding in the lush vegetation.
It’s approximately a four-hour drive to reach the Serengeti park gates, but you can make the trip even more enriching by including one or both of the following optional experiences:
Olduvai Gorge Museum: Known as the Cradle of Mankind, this remarkable site preserves some of the oldest traces of human existence ever discovered. Explore the museum to learn about early human history and enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged gorge landscape.
Maasai Boma Visit: Experience authentic Maasai culture with a visit to a traditional village. Join in their vibrant dances, explore their unique way of life, and browse local crafts and souvenirs at the village market.
Please note that both of these experiences come at an additional cost — speak to your safari expert to include them in your itinerary.
After a delicious picnic lunch at the Serengeti National Park, the real adventure begins! Explore the endless plains of the Serengeti, where Africa’s iconic wildlife roams freely across the golden savannah.
In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Tukaone Tented Lodge or a similar lodge for a perfect end to your day.
After breakfast, we’ll set out on a scenic drive across the plains of Togoro and through the Mbuzi Mawe kopjes (rocky hills), heading toward the northern part of the park.
As we journey onward, you’ll experience the Serengeti’s ever-changing landscapes — from rolling woodlands and rocky outcrops to vast open savannahs. Along the way, you might spot a variety of wildlife, from the tiny dik-dik to majestic elephants and graceful giraffes.
Upon reaching the Kogatende region, Hedsa Adventures will take you on an exciting game drive in search of the spectacular Wildebeest Migration and the legendary Big Five.
Accommodation will be provided at a comfortable tented lodge.
After breakfast, we’ll embark on a game drive around the Kogatende area, exploring the kopjes in search of predators and the massive herds preparing to cross the Mara River into Kenya.
The Mara River, teeming with hippos and Nile crocodiles, forms the final major barrier between the Wildebeest Migration and the relative safety of the Masai Mara. With patience—and a touch of luck—you might witness the breathtaking river crossing itself, as wildebeest and zebras navigate the strong currents and lurking crocodiles to reach the opposite bank.
Dinner and overnight stay will be arranged in the heart of Serengeti National Park, according to the standard and type of accommodation selected from our options.
After breakfast, we set off on the road back toward Ngorongoro Crater National Park.
Our journey takes us through the Serengeti on a different route, providing fresh opportunities to see the wildlife you might have missed on day two. Across the vast plains, you’ll encounter countless animals in magnificent herds—wildebeests and zebras moving together, elegant giraffes, leaping antelopes and gazelles, the mighty African elephant, and the formidable predators that rule the savannah.
Keep your eyes peeled for sleek cheetahs, elusive leopards, scavenging hyenas, and, of course, the undisputed king of the plains—the lion.
Overnight stay and accommodation at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
After breakfast, you’ll set off for Ngorongoro Crater, often hailed as the Eighth Wonder of the World. From the panoramic viewpoint, the first sight of this expansive, lush caldera will immediately reveal why it has such a legendary reputation.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to over 120 mammal species, including the renowned Big Five. It’s an excellent spot to witness the endangered black rhinoceros grazing peacefully across the grasslands, as well as see large groups of hippopotamus cooling off in the water.
From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you’ll have the chance to spot and photograph some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. The crater hosts a rich array of predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, alongside vast populations of wildebeest, zebras, antelopes, and Cape buffalo. It remains one of Africa’s ultimate safari experiences.
After an action-packed day, enjoy a picnic lunch by the park’s famous hippo pool before returning to Arusha and your hotel with Hedsa Adventures (B&B).
